Historical Lunch

I had a question posed to me this past week that I thought was very interesting. Aside from Jesus, which Biblical character would you like to sit down for an hour and have lunch with? I have to be honest with you when I say that this question actually stumped me for a bit. The Bible is literally jammed with stories of incredible people that lived extraordinary lives. One of the things I love so much about the Bible is that it is filled with stories of people that were just like you and me. They had problems, expecations, experienced joy and success as well as sorrow and defeat. They had highs, lows and everything else in between. Yet it seems that there was always something inside of them that helped them to step up to the plate and more times than not hit the ball out of the park.

Aside from Jesus, if I had to pick one person from the Bible to have lunch with I think it would have to be Joseph (the old testament Joseph:))

What an amazing man he was! I want to know what he was thinking when his brothers disowned him. What ran through his mind when he went to prison even though he was innocenet. What were his prayers like in the dirty, rat infested dungeon? What was it like to go from living in a dungeon to living in a palace at the snap of Pharoh’s fingers?

Joseph could answer those questions. Joseph knew what it was like to be mistreated. He knew what it was like to have sibling rivalry. He knew about high expectations and how to survive when the weight of the world seemed to be on his shoulders. Any of those things relate to you? I know they do for me. If you were to have lunch with a Biblical character who would it be and why? What would you ask them and more importantly, what can you learn from their life than can help you become all that God has intended for you to be?

With Expectancy!
