Sleepy time

I am pretty sure I have found out what one of my favorite things to do as a dad is. This morning as I was getting ready to leave, I stopped by Addison’s room to give her a kiss goodbye. When I walked into her room, she was sleeping away. For Addison to be asleep at all is nothing short of a miracle. She has more energy than any person I have ever met in this life. She ALWAYS wants to crawl, and play and walk around and get into things which she isn’t supposed to. When the time comes to sleep, I think she thinks “I don’t want to sleep….I don’t want to miss out on anything.”

So, needless to say, watching Addison sleep is not something I get the opportunity to do very often. However, this particular day was the exception. When I walked into her room, she was sleeping away. She was in la la land dreaming about swimming pools and cheerios and my blackberry which is her favorite toy on the planet. As I sat there for a moment and watched her sleep, one thought entered my mind. That thought was, “I would do anything for this little girl.” Now I know that as her dad I can’t give her everything that she wants. That would not be what is best for her. I can, however, attempt to give her everything that she could possibly need (and some of the things she wants as well:)) to make her successful in this life.

Did you know that God feels the same way about you? Sometimes He can’t give us everything that we want because that is not what would be best for us. He always gives us what we need to become the person that He has created us to be. God loves you so much. In fact, Jeremiah 29:11 says, “For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord. They are plans for hope and not disaster, to give you a future and a hope.”

God wants what is best for you. I believe with all of my heart that you make him smile. Have you ever sat back and watched your kids sleep before? Does a life and compassion come over you that says, “I would do anything for him or her?” That is the way that God feels about us. God wants us to realize how much He cares about us. I leave you with Romans 12:2 in the message translation.

“Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for Him.”

Embrace what God has done for you today. Doing that will make Him the happiest daddy in the world.

With Expectancy!
